This canyon scene was drawn in remembrance of a journey to Gallup while living on the Navajo reservation for nearly six months. The desert’s cliffs and rivers carry both beauty and hardship, etched into the land and memory. For me, it became a personal marker of that chapter: the stark warmth of the desert, the flow of water through stone, and the quiet lessons of survival and spirit.
